Behind The Chair - Leigh
This week on Behind The Chair, we're joined by Leigh from our Marylebone store
What made you get into barbering, and how did you end up at Ruffians?
I moved to Australia where my friend was opening a barbershop, cut my friend's hair one day, and decided I enjoyed doing that far more than the finance job I was in! When moving back to the UK I did a training course with an ex-employee of Ruffians who recommended me to the company.
What’s your favourite thing about Ruffians Marylebone?
The team dynamic and variety of customers from all backgrounds that walk through the door.
And what’s your favourite bit of Marylebone?
It doesn't matter if it's a Monday or a Saturday, there will always be a vibe around here with so many pubs, restaurants and cafes on our doorstep.
What do you get up to outside of work?
Gym, live music events, drinking too much coffee, and occasionally trying to get back to my hometown of Edinburgh.
What’s your biggest achievement in hair?
Leaping to change career and managed to land my first UK barbering job in a shop as big and successful as Ruffians.
What’s your favourite Ruffians product?
Hair cream, as it's the most versatile product.
Fun fact about you...
I watched the first ever Ruffians barbershop in Edinburgh get built, whilst sitting at my desk across the road doing a job I hated thinking "that looks a cool place to work", years later I changed career and landed a job in the company!
