About Ruffians

We are an award-winning barber shop, men’s toiletries store and lifestyle destination. With a focus on high quality haircuts, beard trims and cut throat shaves, we are dedicated to creating an enjoyable and relaxing customer experience. Our teams of barbers and front of house staff are handpicked and carefully trained to guarantee you the best possible service.

We want everyone who comes through our doors to feel welcome, comfortable and relaxed, so that getting a haircut seems like less of a chore. From our unique design features to our complimentary extras, we are always intent on making our customer service the best it can possibly be: our barbers are allocated a good amount of time to give you a proper consultation; an integrated vacuum system ensures no hairs stray down your neck; our bespoke coffee and whisky bars offer a range of seasonal tipples for you to enjoy during your service; we provide iPads for you to use while you wait for your haircut; Scottish oak cutting desks provide a communal atmosphere, bringing back the legacy of the barber as a social hub in the community. We even host pop-up shops, limited collaborations, events and parties regularly, and encourage all Ruffians to get involved. Our own product range, engineered by the customer, for the customer, is used throughout the service and is available to buy instore, to complete the Ruffians experience.

OUR HISTORY

Ruffians was founded in Edinburgh’s West End in 2012, borne of a frustration with the lack of barbers providing great customer service. Within six months, it became a resounding success and won Best Independent Newcomer at the British Hairdressing Business Awards, and Best New Salon and Best Designed Salon in the UK at the prestigious Creative Head industry awards.

In December 2013, Ruffians brought its strong Scottish heritage down to London and launched in Covent Garden: this flagship store went on to win Best Customer Experience in the UK within eight months of trading, and Best Salon Team the very next year. A subsequent Marylebone shop was opened in January 2016 and the newest Shoreditch shop opened in August 2016 .
