A bit about Ruffians
Back in 2012 there wasn’t a shortage of places to get your haircut in Edinburgh, anything but. For this reason it seemed a bold move to open up another barbershop in the city’s West End.
However, it was one man’s opinion that - in an already saturated market place - there was nowhere that made the choice clear on which to choose.
His vision was to create a place where a more tailored and personal service was the norm, whilst retaining the laid back atmosphere and community vibe which had become synonymous within British barbershop culture. Thankfully, it soon became clear he wasn’t alone.
Fast forward to the present day and Ruffians has become a leading light in the industry with five prominent bricks and mortar stores, an acclaimed product range and a host of accolades including a record three ‘British Barbershop Of The Year’ awards. And we’re not stopping here.
We’re as passionate about the planet as we are about hair. Our next mission is to become not only the country’s best barbering brand, but also the most sustainable.

Our team
We’re really proud of what Ruffians has become, and even more excited about where we’re going, but none of this would be possible without the hardworking, passionate and immensely talented bunch of people that make up Team Ruffians.
Many of them have been with us keeping the great and good of London and Edinburgh looking
fresh ever since our stores first opened their doors.
Let’s hear what they have to say about us what working for Ruffians means to them.
Shoreditch Manager
Richard Tucker
"Ruffians took a chance on me a decade ago, and I'm so pleased they did. Since then I’ve become the busiest barber in the company, worked my way up to Manager and reached the final of ‘British Barber of the Year’. Outside of the shop I've been given the opportunity to cut on stage in front of hundreds of people, work on film sets and see my work printed in national magazines. All things that I’d never have had the confidence to do before I worked here. I’ve grafted, but it's been a fun journey and I've met some incredible people along the way."
Senior Barber, Edinburgh
Stewart Kwan
Stewart has been with Ruffians Edinburgh for 12 years and is one of our longest standing barbers keeping the good folk of Edinburgh looking sharp since our OG shop was in it’s infancy over a decade ago. With his friendly banter and top shelf trims he’s part of the furniture, in a good way. Stewart’s extensive experience means that he excels in all hair types and styles, which explains why he has one of the longest client lists in the city.
Store Manager, Marylebone
Naomi Richardson - 6 Years
Proud Northerner Naomi started cutting hair at the age of fourteen and, after many years at high end salons, she decided to head south and move into barbering three and a half years ago. Her unique skill set and worth ethic saw her promoted to Manager of our Marylebone shop last year, a role she has flourished in. Her large client list backs up our opinion that she is one of central London’s finest hair professionals
Like what you see?
We’re always on the lookout for good people to add to our wonderful, diverse bunch. We’d love to hear from you if you feel like you can bring something to the table.
We hire at all ends of the spectrum; whether you’re an established professional with decades of experience, or you’re fresh out of barber school and this your first rodeo. So long as you’re motivated and humble we’d urge you to get in touch.
We like to think that we can offer more to candidates than many of our competitors. There’s ongoing training, a clear route map of progression, a pay structure that champions loyalty and the chance to truly shape an award-winning business that is moving in the right direction.
We care about our staff and look to help them achieve their goals away from the barber’s chair wherever possible too. Whether it’s photo shoots, stage work or commercial events, we can help you reach your true potential.
When we were looking to launch our product and fragrance lines we took the advice of those whose opinions we trusted the most - our barbers. Everything had to be tried, tested and approved by these guys because they’re the best in the business, and you can be too.
