Three of The Best - Quick Lunch Spots in Edinburgh

Three of The Best - Quick Lunch Spots in Edinburgh

We’re heading North to the original home of Ruffians, beautiful Edinburgh. It’s Worldwide renown comes from a good many things - amazing architecture, rich history, breathtaking views, top draw haircuts…..

But it’s also building up a bit of a rep as one of Britain’s foodie hot spots. There’s everything here from elite Michelin Starred restaurants headed up by celebrity chefs to pop-up street food markets pumping out fresh dishes from all over the World.

This time though, we’re talking the best spots to pick up a quick lunch. You know the ones; fuss free, not too pricey but with all the flavour. We’ve spoken to popular resident food aficionado Kim, AKA ‘The Wee Food Blogger’, to get the lowdown.

Daneli’s Deli - For Paninis and Wraps

This homely West End spot offers a wide selection of lunchtime crowd pleasers including their trademark toasted wraps. Filling choices are plentiful and ever-changing, think Thai coconut chicken or Japanese curry alongside tried and tested favourites such as ham, cheese and mustard or tuna melt. Prices are reasonable for such a central spot too - a fiver will be plenty - and even during the lunchtime rush you’ll rarely be kept waiting long.

Social Bite - For Good Lunch Whilst Doing Good

Make no mistake, the food at Social Bite is good, but the ethics are even better. Initially a cafe who took a chance on a homeless person asking for work, it’s now a fully functioning social enterprise which has helped many homeless people back on their feet. They now boast four shops, a city centre bar/restaurant and even “Social Bite Village”; a development with eleven properties for people with nowhere to call home. You can even pay forward a lunch for someone in need.

Cairngorm - For The Best Flat White

Set up in 2014, Cairngorm now have two buzzing central coffee shops where they stock and serve their own excellent beans. Both shops manage to combine a crisp Skandi aesthetic with warm Scottish hospitality. They also offer a good selection of hot and cold sandwiches, pastries and soup to soak up some of that glorious caffeinated beverage.

All of these spots are within a close proximity of our Edinburgh outpost, so why not combine your swift lunch with a trim or shave.
