Behind The Chair - Joey
This week on Behind The Chair, we caught up with Joey from Ruffians Marylebone barbershop.
What made you get into barbering, and how did you end up at Ruffians?
I began cutting hair at 16 in my hometown, Cheltenham. I got into cutting as I always wanted to learn a trade out of school and work with people. I always aspired to move to a bigger city to progress my skills and career, I found ruffians online and got in touch. After meeting the team and seeing the vibe of the shops, I knew it was going to be a good move.
What’s your favourite thing about Ruffians Marylebone?
I love the community feel, there are alot of great people in the area and it's really nice seeing them round and about, the other local businesses are super friendly and it creates a beautiful atmosphere in the area.
And what’s your best bit of Marylebone?
Definitely Marylebone Lane, full of great pubs and a bunch of amazing restaurants.
What do you get up to outside of work?
I organize music events back in my hometown, and love attending music events and festivals all over. I really enjoy going out for food around the city. Lastly i love a good Lime bike around, best way to see London and you don't break a sweat.
What’s your biggest achievement in hair?
I ran a small studio barber shop back home, building that into a busy business was a proud achievement, and having Gloucestershire Live write a really nice article about it.
What’s your favourite Ruffians product?
The hair cream is the dream, very versatile easy to use product
Fun fact about you…
I can double kickflip on a skateboard, well, I used to be able to.
