What should you wear to a job interview?

Finding the right outfit for a job interview can be daunting, it is often difficult to judge the right level or combination of clothes. We spoke to Darren, A.K.A Mr Everyman for his top tips on what to wear to a job interview to ensure you leave a lasting impression.

The keys things to consider when wondering what to wear to an interview are being prepared, calm, on time and looking your best to impress, but sensibly dressed. Fashion comes and goes but style remains. Don’t forget to be comfortable, nothing is worse when you’re feeling a blister on those new shoes you just brought, or the shirt you’re wearing is a size too small and choking your neck. If you feel comfortable in your interview attire you are more likely to be yourself. Show your intellect, wit and and ability to do the job but also that you’re confident and make an impression. Your look counts for a lot. Do do dress untidily, it will reflect what the interviewer thinks of your work.

Here’s what to wear when you don’t have to wear a suit or to when the dress code is smart casual. I’ve still chosen a formal pair of grey trousers. They pair nicely with brogues and to dress it down a little a simple blue jumper over a plain white shirt should give you a comfortable and stylish look. Depending on how formal the interview is, you could wear a clean white pair of sneakers without socks. Additionally you’ll need a fitted belt, and don’t forget to bring any nescecities i.e laptop, glasses, notepad, pen. Oh and that umbrella, you never know what the weather might be like.
